Origin: Austria

Latin name.
Tilia platyphyllos Scop.; Tilia cordata Mill.

Natural vegetation area.
The lime tree is widespread virtually on the whole territory of Austria up to an altitude of 700 m.

TRUNK CHARACTERISTICS.
In the wild, the lime tree reaches 30 m height, has a short trunk without branches and a large foliage.

WOOD APPEARANCE AND CHARACTERISTICS.
Lime has a non-differentiated heart and is light in colour, with some greenish areas. It features a slight silky lustre. Its small pores, widespread throughout the ring, cannot be identified to the naked eye.

Fresh 780 kg/m³; dried 480 kg/m³.

Straight fibre, fine and uniform texture.
